Frequently Asked Questions — Woburn Food Safety

What courses do you offer?
We provide ServSafe® Food Protection Manager classes with proctored exams, Allergen Awareness training, and private or onsite group sessions.

Is ServSafe required in Massachusetts?
Yes. Massachusetts requires at least one Certified Food Protection Manager in each establishment. ServSafe® is the most widely accepted certification to meet this requirement.

Do you offer Allergen Awareness training?
Yes. Our Allergen Awareness course covers the major allergens, cross-contact prevention, and customer communication. In Massachusetts, this training is typically required in addition to ServSafe®.

What is the class and exam format?
The class is instructor-led, covering Food Code essentials and practice questions. The exam is 90 multiple-choice questions, with a passing score of 70%. It may be taken on paper or online with a proctor.

What’s included with registration?
Registration includes the prep class, proctored exam, and access to study materials. Printed books and optional retest vouchers are available.

What should I bring on exam day?
Bring a valid photo ID, pencil (for paper exams), and your confirmation email. If approved, you may also bring a dictionary for translation.

When will I get my results and certificate?
Online proctored exams usually provide results the same day. Paper exams take about 3–10 business days. Certificates can be downloaded from your ServSafe® account once posted.

How long is the certification valid?
The ServSafe® Food Protection Manager certificate is valid for 5 years in most jurisdictions. Local health departments may require renewal sooner.

What if I need to retest?
If you do not pass, you may retest. ServSafe® limits the number of attempts within certain timeframes. Discounted retest vouchers and study resources are available.

What is your reschedule/cancellation policy?
You may reschedule once at no charge up to 48 hours before class. Changes within 48 hours or no-shows are not refundable. If a class is canceled by us, you may choose a new date or a refund.

Can I cancel my order and get a refund?

Unfortunately no, as all sales are final. However you can reschedule the exam or training session. There are no rescheduling fees up to 90 days. All reschedule requests after 90 days of the original class or exam dates are subject to a reschedule fee of $75.00 to $125.00.

How much does it cost?
Pricing varies depending on class format and location. Group and onsite rates are available upon request.
